Simon Solly was born in 1460 in Ash, Kent, England.

His parents were Sir Peter Solly (1433-1495) and Alice Ashe (1435-1498).

He inherited his father's lands in Ash, Wingham and Elmeston.

In The Parish of Elmeston, Simon Solly held 5 acres of land, which he passed to Robert Solly. He owned a dwelling house named "Wardell" along with lands and Overland Chapel, which he passed down to Stephen Solly (1490-1559). To his son Edmund Solly he gave further land in Elmston. It is possible his other son died before his death and therefore did not inherit anything.

He married Anne Bird (1460-1500).

Their children included Stephen Solly (1490-1559).

He and his wife both died in 1500.

On the 15th of December 1500, Simon Solly died. He was buried in the churchyard.
